Bristol Elisabeth
'My name is Bristol. I live with my husband in New Jersey, in the U.S. I have lived here in New Jersey my whole life. I have one sibling, a younger sister. She's moving to Nashville very soon. At least I'll have a new place to go on a trip to!
I've always dressed "differently". Even as a very small child I was drawn to bold colours. That has't changed a bit. I don't feel like I'm being "me" unless I am dressed in bright colours. It just makes me happy to be dressed brightly; it's such a cheerful palette. A lot of people who see me for the first time say "wow, you're dressed brightly!" They don't realize I am dressed this way every day! I also don't know if they mean it as a compliment or not, but what they think doesn't matter to me. All that matters is I dress for myself and it makes ME happy! As far as style influences go: since I started reading other women's blogs a couple of years ago, they have definitely influenced me. Also, following women on Instagram has influenced me. Reading blogs and seeing fashion on Instagram has inspired me, and given me new ideas. I've found so many great places to shop this way! There aren't any stores in New Jersey that sell "pin up" style items. I just recently went to a couple in New York City, which was great. But, I mainly order everything online. I had never heard of most of the sites online I now shop at, until I started reading blogs and following women on Instagram. I am very grateful for these super stylish women who show their style to the world!
I would describe my style as "1950's rainbow brite", ha! The 50's has a huge influence on my style, and most of my wardrobe is 50's looking. My favorite places to shop are: Pin Up Girl Clothing, Etsy, Ebay, Heart of Haute, and Trashy Diva. I also love the brands Bernie Dexter, B.A.I.T. Footwear, and Hell Bunny, and find them all on various websites. My favorite Etsy shops are: Luxulite (where I buy all my fruity jewelry!), Scrumptiousdoodle and IncredInedible (I buy most of my sweets jewelry from those two shops).
What are your top three favourite pieces in your wardrobe?
Your most-loved era?
1950's hands down!! My dad has always collected classic cars, and he drove me to my wedding in a 1953 lavendar cadillac. He also used to have a massive collection of 1950's era advertising signs and thermometers. We even had an antique gas pump in our kitchen & an old Pepsi bottle machine in our living room. My mom also collects antiques, but she doesn't concentrate on the 50's, she has items from many eras. As a child, my parents dragged me and my sister to all kinds of antique shows and shops. So, it was always a big part of my home life, and the impact has obviously stayed with me, and now reflects in my clothing, as well!
On my current shopping wish list is: Erstwilder brooches and earrings from the new collection and a couple of Bernie Dexter dresses from her website. I never have enough Erstwilder or Bernie! I actually do not own any real vintage. Maybe someday!
Right now I can't think of a different look I would like to try. I am very content with how my style has evlolved. I feel better now about my style than I ever have before. I think the type of clothing I wear is very flattering on my body type as well, so I have no interest now in trying/experimenting with another look. You never know what could happen in the future though!
My make up essentials are: Maybelline black liquid eyeliner, Stila beso liquid lipstick, and Cover Girl black mascara. If I had to incorporate the same item of clothing every day for the rest of my life, that would definitely be a brooch! I wear jewelry every single day, and feel "naked" without it. I love to wear necklaces, brooches, & earrings, and every day I wear all of those items. But, if I had to pick one, I think it'd be a brooch. My favorite hair style to wear is just my hair down, and curled with a curling iron.
If ladies wanted to dress in the same style as me, staples they would need to get started are: B.A.I.T. Footwear spectators, printed circle skirts, fruity necklaces and brooches, a great red dress with a full skirt, a red lipstick, and cropped cardigans.'
