OOTD: Fluffy Jumpers & Cupcakes ft. Deer Arrow

Aloha, cupcakes! I have a casual outfit post for you, today! Since getting my Hug Me Baby jeans from Lady K Loves, I am just obsessed with the more casual almost rockabilly/beatnik look. However, I went for a much more girly look today with my pastels because I received this gorgeous cupcake brooch by a lovely Australian accessory company Deer Arrow and I was dying to wear it!

I also have this cute-as-a-button Milkshake brooch too - I almost contemplated wearing them both :'D. I LOVE pink and blue/green/teal/aqua together (As you'll be able to tell from my banner and blog!) so this combination was a no-brainer for me! I also paired it with my vintage pink bomber jacket.

Leopard Love With Vivien Of Holloway!

Aloha, peaches! Today, I am here with a half outfit post half review of my gorgeous new Vivien Of Holloway Leopard Circle Skirt. I absolutely loved my outfit - it was simple, practical and best of all sassy!

In my opinion, Vivien Of Holloway do the best skirts in the vintage reproduction world... Pencil and circle. Their circle skirts are completely full and a lovely heavy material which means they sit beautifully, especially over petticoats. You often get the problem of skirts being too short, but VoH one's are always the perfect authentic length. The sweater I'm wearing is actually from a charity shop, but VoH also do some very similar ones called Ballerina Sweaters. Crossover sweaters are perfect, because they do their job of keeping you nice and warm, but also don't swamp you whilst keep your feminine silhouette!

The Starlet Scandal Jumpsuit by The Original Bad Girl

Let me introduce you to Australian fashion label The Original Bad Girl... A Sydney based brand that will make you feel like the baddest, sassiest broad there ever was. Lurex? Check. Stripes? Check? TOBG have got your back (covered in fabulous clothing, that is!).

 I recently became the lucky owner of the sold-out Starlet Scandal Jumpsuit. A piece of clothing that would make Betty Brosmer proud! You cannot be a wallflower in this gem, let me tell you. Be prepared to stand out. It is made of a cotton stretch fabric with lurex threads running all through it so you'll be sure to turn heads. It has no zips or buttons to ruin the curve-hugging silhouette it gives you, so you just slip it on and pull the neck piece over your head. 

I think this glitzy jumpsuit makes the perfect alternative to a dress as you definitely don't compromise on feeling fancy. The cross-over halter neck really accentuates your best bits and makes you feel sexy without showing off too much skin. 

OOTD: A Match Made In Heaven! Featuring The Oblong Box

A very festive Aloha to all of my lovely readers today! Four days til' Christmas! Are we all wrapped and ready to go yet? (I'm not! Oops!). Today, I bring you an OOTD with two pieces that were just a match made in heaven. Do you ever have those days where you put an outfit together and you just think 'Daaaaaaamn! They were made for each other!' Just me? Well this outfit was one of one those. The top matched perfectly with my harlequin skirt. And I know, some of you will be wincing at my choice to wear jelly shoes and tights, but I couldn't resist seeing as they were the exact same colour as my top! Who cares! I loved this outfit, but I can't wait to wear it in Summer without tights and a coat to ruin it.

"New Years? No Problem!" With Alice In Retrospect!

Mini Post: My Pinup Girl Clothing Black Friday Haul!

Aloha, lovelies! Black Friday just happened all over the world and oh was it a good one! Pretty much every online retail shop had discounts - some big, some small. I pretty much only had my eyes for one site during the sale antics and that was Pinup Girl Clothing (PUG). A shop that every pin up loving girl adores. I haven't met one yet that isn't lusting after something from there. I only own a couple of dresses that I've either gotten second hand or from eBay but the one I do have I am besotted with - in particular my orange printed Jenny dress. Purchasing PUG in the UK is quite a challenge due to the fact that there are minimal stockists and the places that do stock it have very high mark up prices that rarely go on sale and if you want to order from the PUG website you're going to have to expect international shipping costs and customs charges. However, the quality, sizing and designs are just the best you can get. So when I saw PUG were doing 30% off everything INCLUDING SALE I just couldn't say no. I asked my parents if I could have some money for PUG clothes instead of a present for Christmas and they agreed much to my happiness. I pretty much didn't look outside of the sale section (Apart from one thing, but you'll see all about it later!!!) as I wanted to get as much as I could for the budget I had and to be honest the sale section was pretty damn awesome itself (All I'm saying is harlequin) so I was pretty satisfied with what I got!

OOTD: Autumn Leaves

Aloha, my lovelies! I'm here today with my second OOTD! This one being very seasonal with the fallen leaves and chilly air. Please note: I did have a cardigan AND a coat... But that would have ruined my fabulous vintage dress now, wouldn't it!?
This is definitely my most autumnal dress. I found it at a vintage fair last year for something like £6... It fits me like a dream and I absolutely love it. After reviewing the photo's that my gorgeous boyfriend Patrick took (thanks so much, honey!) I realised that in some of the photo's a few of my buttons had come undone (oops!) and I know it's really annoying where my dress waist line doesn't match up with my belt (arrrg!) but nevertheless, you get the picture :-)!

Well, well, well... I haven't done a 'Pin Up Style On A Budget' post in forever! I was originally doing another blog post (which will now be published after this one!) and I just couldn't help but feel the need to share all the gorgeous finds that I've seen whilst perusing various highstreet/supermarket websites! I literally have 14 tabs open on my laptop from where I've seen something I'd love to share so I've opened it up to make sure I don't forget to put it in a post! And the cold weather seems to be a perfect excuse do to some shopping, right? ;-) As if you need an excuse anyway! Let's jump straight into the Matalan bargains!

Retro Homeware On The Highstreet #2

I was just going back through old posts and the last one I did of these was waaaay back in January! I know everyone and their Mother's have said this but where the heck has 2014 gone? It feels like it was only just Christmas! Moving house has just been an excuse to actually buy the gorgeous homeware I have been lusting for and seeing as I have been given full control over the interior design (Thanks, honey!) I really want to make this house our own. With a mid-century modern vibe going through the living room and a kitsch-y vintage vibe through the rest of the house - it has been interesting to see what the high street has to offer!

A Week Of Outfits (+Update!)

Oh goodness me! I've been MIA (Unpacking, working, becoming an Aunty). I am really going to start making blogging a regular thing as I do really enjoy it. I've got a few projects in the works (Working with Tesco's Opticians, giveaways, tutorials, OOTD's) which is spurring me on to stay on top of regular blog posts. I've had a blog make-over! Do you like? I certainly do! My gorgeous boyfriend made me a fabulous new blog header to go with my new blog name Atomic Amber. I just felt like my original blog name was a tad too long and I don't think it reflected me and my blog well enough.
I finally have a garden which means I can do detailed OOTD's and take full length pictures for here. What's news? Well I got my picture published in Perfectly PinUp Magazine (Purchase here). Here's a very proud pointy finger... Right in the middle too! ;-D

Hello there, my darlings! Today, I am going to be talking about one of my favourite things - cake glasses! Yes, you read that right. Spectacle shopping really gets me excited! I love how much a pair of specs can transform a person's face. I am actually a glassses wearer (Well at least I'm suppose to be) and the only reason why I don't wear mine daily is because I feel they just don't fit in with my style (too modern) so I have been on the hunt for my perfect pair. There are a lot of beautiful authentic frames on sites like Etsy, but I prefer 'vin-spired' reproduction frames for regular wear because they are much more accessible price wise and let's be honest everyday eye glasses need to be practical and sturdy enough to withstand general daily antics!
I've scoured the web for my top picks in the eye-wear department because there really are some gems out there on the high street!

Hola Dolls! I feel like I haven't done one of these in AGES! To be honest, I just haven't really been shopping recently... But I have had the occasional scroll through eBay to find the best little gems!

I am in LOVE with these gypsy style tops! I think they are the ultimate casual tops for the warmer weather. I will definitely be getting a few of these as they have such a lovely selection of colours. They would look amazing with most things from a novelty print circle skirt to your favourite jeans! How To Embrace Retro EVERY DAY? Casual Pin Up!

Today's post is going to be about how to achieve that polished Pin Up look every single day. I lot of people are shocked when I tell them that I dress this way all the time. To be honest, a lot of people are shocked when I tell them I'm not in fancy dress! (I'm just fancy;D!) So I've put together this little guide about how to be recognizably 'Pin Up' or Rockabilly whether you're just going out to the post office or you're going to take the dog for a walk. Always dress as if you're going to see your worst enemy! As they say! Now, I have a puppy myself so I know what it's like - you don't want to be hauling yourself through a field with a dog in a wiggle dress (If you do then POWER TO YOU, girl!) but you also don't want to completely loose the style that you love by wearing dodgy leggings and a t-shirt! However, you can wear a t-shirt and leggings... Just the right ones!

The blog post is definitely catered for the more Pin Up/Rockabilly gals out there opposed to the Classic Vintage beauties, so bear that in mind... I embrace a bit of both, so let's go!

Retro Reviews: Bow And Crossbones

Here I have another lovely company to review for you! Bow And Crossbones are possibly the best vintage reproduction jewellery brand I have ever come across! There is something for everyone - whether it's a gorgeous lucite glitter brooch or a pair of bamboo hoops. I challenge you to visit their site www.bowandcrossbones.com and not come away with a 'want list' as long as your arm! They also sell kitsch homeware, gifts, accessories and cute Pin-Up/Rockabilly clothing.
I was lucky enough to be sent some picks from their store which arrived super fast and were packaged beautifully. For me, that is really important (the packaging, that is), I just feel if I am going to be treating myself I want the whole works! Especially when it comes to jewellery - there is no point having a beautiful necklace if it comes in a boring old plastic packet! (Okay - there is a point... It is still a beautiful necklace! Hell! I just love a bit of packaging! Call me materialistic!).
I received four items - A pair of silver glitter domed lucite studs, a pair of white & blue confetti lucite domed clip ons, a green double orchid hair flower and a pair of burnt bamboo hoop earrings! I was spoilt :-) Of course, as soon as my package arrived I wore everything straight away - naturally! On the day, I paired my bamboo hoops with orchid hair piece and it looked spiffing if I do say so myself. I also wear both in my Betty Grable Hair Tutorial so I think it's pretty evident I love the combination.
Cam from Bow And Crossbones asked me what my preference was on the earrings as she offers studs and clip on's which I personally think is really lovely as it's refreshing to actually have an option. I told her that she could send me one of each if she'd like so then I can say which is my favorite. I have super sensitive ears which is a pain in the ahem, but I get worried that clip on's aren't as secure as studs - HOWEVER I am relived and surprised to find that I really enjoyed the clip on's and dare I say prefer them! They felt secure as anything but at the same time didn't pinch too hard or hurt at all. Perfect for Gal's like me who's ears flair up at the sight of a stud or if you just don't have your ears pierced.

Pin Up Style On A Budget: Swimwear Edition!

I've been a very bad blogger! But I've promised myself I am going to start blogging much more regularly and consistently! Now that I've made myself a new header and shuffled a few things around, I feel much happier with my blog layout :-) What do you think?
I've been doing a few photo shoots (hence new header image) which has been so much fun! I've been absolutely loving it! I've been helping my lovely friend Tanya (search Tanya T Images on Facebook and give her a like as her photography is amazing!) build her portfolio - so it's a win win for both of us! I really want to start doing some hair tutorials and things like that but I don't know if people will be interested/I'm confident enough/any excuse but I do really want to. No complicated or difficult styles... Just some nice simple easy do's which everyone can master and do everyday! Hmmm maybe I will. A few people have also told me I should think about making a Youtube channel, but I think that's a long way away for now! Let's master taking photo's of myself doing hair styles first, haha!

Vintage Doll Q&A: Myself! ;-D

Hola! Two posts in one day, by golly! I am starting up a little Q&A series where I will *hopefully* get all my favorite Vintage-inspired bloggers/hairdressers or just general Dolls (Well as many of them as I can persuade to!) to answer a series of questions because well I am just very nosey  interested ;-D. I think it will be fun to compare answers between different bloggers (and myself!) and see if us Ladies learn a little something new! Anyway, let me know what you think and also if you'd like to be part of this little interview series.

I thought it's only right if I actually answer the questions myself... So here we go!

How long have you been dressing vintage?

I have worn vintage clothing for about 5ish years now, but only have properly starting embracing the 'pin-up' vintage look for just over a year now.

What made you want to start dressing this way?

 Where do I start? I love everything about this style! It is so feminine and ladylike. It has no restrictions or rules! It's like a big vintage party and everyone is invited!

40's or 50's?

 It depends. I like to incorporate a bit of both. However, in Spring/Summer I'm much more 50's and in Autumn/Winter I'm more 40s.

Favorite colour? 

Pink, green and red.

5 staples every vintage girl should own?

A variety of circle skirts. A good well-fitting wiggle dress. Swing dresses. Nylon hair scarves. Red lipstick!

Signature hair do'?

 Oh goodness, however it turns out in the morning! Does that count? Normally it's just a brushed out curl with either a side roll or  high 'wave' fringe.

Authentic or Reproduction?

 A healthy mix of both. They both have their pros and cons. Authentic is unique and normally one of a kind but Repro is easily available and comes in all sizes.

Your biggest style icon?

 Diana Dors and Betty Grable.

Tea or coffee?

 Tea. Tea. Tea. Tea.

Best tip for anyone who wants to start embracing vintage/pin up style?

 Invest in a few staple pieces (read above answer) and DO YOUR RESEARCH. Find out what style you like the most - whether is pin up, classic, rockabilly, alternative etc.

Dream classic car?

 A pink Cadillac Convertible.

Favorite place to shop? 

 Charity shops and eBay

To accessorize or not to accessorize?

 Meh, I'm very much a 'not to', but this year is my goal to become a full on accessorizer.

 Urm, not that I can think of. Would like to go to Goodwood but nothing is planned yet!
