Atomic Amber: Faux Vintage Underwear Under £15: Matalan

One of the many things I adore about dressing vintage is what's UNDER the beautiful dresses. Even before I embraced this style as a permanent factor in my life - I still was completely in love with vintage-style underwear. However, I know that vintage-esque pantaloons (not literally pantaloons!) can be a little dear for something that only will be possibly seen by one person (yourself). Don't get me wrong though- I am all for making yourself feel a million dollars and yes I do believe that can be achieved by simply wearing matching underwear - which for me is unfortunately a rare occurance. Luckily for you, I have concocted a selection of beautiful pieces of underwear from the highstreet which can be found easily and are even easier on your purses. Because let's face it - not everyone can spend £30 on a pair of knickers! Although if you are treating yourself (or even better - having someone else treat you!) I do recommend What Katie Did as a good quality faux vintage lingerie brand!
These posts will be part of a series on my blog as I have decided to separate each one by brand as I feel there is such a wide variety and selection in most shops on the highstreets from Asda to Topshop, so this post as you would have guessed by the title focuses on Matalan. I feel they really bring it in regares to beautiful underwear. They also have a lot of gorgeous shapewear which I think is vital as for me, I love most things that accentuate the hourglass figure.
I have to note that after browsing many highstreet websites I have realised how much the modern industry DOESN'T encourage an hourglass shape and you can see that by the models and how they have been told to stand and the airbrushing on the photographs. Even the shapewear that is designed to nip the waist doesn't look very good as they only show one type of model - straight up and down which is annoying because you can't get a good feel for the product if you aren't that shape... Which most of us aren't.
So even though certain pieces I feature do not look very 'vintage' or look like they sit right... Just imagine then on a Pin Up model or even better... Yourself :-)
